InetSec History
When, in disgrace with security and men's eyes,
I all alone beweep my outcast state
And trouble deaf heaven with my bootless cries
And look upon myself and curse my fate,
Yet in these thoughts myself almost yearning,
I shalt suffer much, but I shalt be learning!
Qui audet adipiscitur
Sedit qui timuit ne non succederet
So, dear reader, you are interested in history? Good. InetSec has a long one. It has been around since the
early days of the 21st century. It was first created at the Distributed Systems Group where a bunch of
people were doing their Ph.Ds (e.g., ek, chris and Thomas Toth).
It changed hands a couple of times and found its current form (i.e., challenge-based security training) in 2004.
ek and chris taught it until 2009. Now, it is pwn3d at the TU Vienna by wongdong, pmilani and ck, -- or better known as, "the next generation". Ah, wait, what about the Distributed Systems Group? Well, they sort of went into things like context awareness, service-orientation, web services, and were not interested in security anymore. Last Modified: Tue Aug 23 12:45:28 CEST 2011 |
